It is almost impossible to know their size they may get when they are fully grown. It totally depends upon whom they inherited most of their physical traits from the parent – Siberian Husky side or Pomeranian side.

In one word you can say that their physical appearance depends on their parents’ genetics, it’s almost impossible to predict the exact height of this hybrid.

Siberian Husky Pomeranian Mix’s Coat

However, other than that, one of the most recognizable features of a Siberian Husky Pomeranian mix is its cute little curved tail and thick double-layered fluffy coat usually, its tails curve up and over the back.

Usually, Pomsky tends to develop thick coats. Their coat can be ideally fluffy like the Pomeranians or silky like Husky. Pomsky is considered as moderate shedder from their fluffy and thick double-layered coat.

If a Pomsky develops fluffy coat then it will have much more Pomeranian blood and if a Pomsky develops a silky coat then it will have much more Husky blood.

Most of the time, it has been seen that they not only bark very loud but also their barks tend to be high pitched. They also inherit the strong loyalty Genes from its parent Pomeranian.

On the other hand, Pomsky doesn’t turn their back when it comes to please and protect your family members as well as to spend some playtime with the kids.

They are friendly by nature so they can easily get along with small kids and other animals especially those they have been raised alongside. however. it’s always a good idea to socialize them early.

Siberian Husky Pomeranian Mix is best suited for seniors and singles, families with kids, the house without or with yards, apartments, and intermediate dog owners.

if you have enough experience with dogs and looking forward to getting a hybrid with special traits to surprise you and your family member, you can go for this beautiful mix Pomsky with no doubts.

A hybrid dog like this one also doesn’t do well on their own if they are left for more than 6 to 12 hours. It also comes with some needs like proper care, training, and attention to survive and live a good long life.

Leaving them alone on their own for too long can make them aggressive towards you and the family member and can be very destructive at home if they are full of energy,

Sometimes it also puts them in stress, so it’s better if you just drain their energy by little exercise to keep their energy level low. In this way, you can stop them from jumping on and off of furniture all day and night long.

Siberian Husky and Pomeranian Mix Health issues

Unfortunately, every month/hybrids/designer dogs develop some genetic health issues from their parents’ genes. Few of them can be the minor ones while some of them can be the major ones.

It has been seen that most of the HEALTH ISSUES are expected to be minor ones like cataracts. A hybrid like Siberian Husky Pomeranian mix also comes with some genetic health issues.

Pomsky may inherit some potential health problems from their parents’ genes at some point especially when they are pups.

It could include hip dysplasia, hypoglycemia, cataracts, corneal dystrophy, shedding coats and many more. These are some of the common problems that we have seen in Pomsky.

After interviewing Pomsky owners, we haven’t found anything susceptible to these health concerns. However, they did mention about a common problem – shedding coats, as we know already that they are moderate shedder, it can be cured and can be easily taken care of.

From my point of view, it is recommended to be in the safe zone, so I will highly recommend you and every Siberian Husky Pomeranian Mix owners to visit the Vet more often for a quick health check-up, at least when they’re at their growth stages.

It is very important and crucial to have occasional testing done on their hips, elbows, and skin. Nobody knows what may happen, so it will always be the best to identify and eliminate these problems early ( if there is )

Siberian Husky Pomeranian Mix ( Pomsky )
Siberian Husky Pomeranian Mix ( Pomsky )

Siberian Husky Pomeranian Mix tends to be so very intelligent dog that will love to follow your command. Training this hybrid can be very easy but it would be best if you do this early, because it is very difficult to train them when they are fully grown / adult as they could become stubborn.

It would be best if you provide them with some high-value treats as a reward when they do well in the training session. However, it will be recommended to use positive reinforcement instead of a reward.

Like patting at him on the head or giving his neck scratch. You can also reward him with his favorite toy whenever your dog does something or complete a task.

Pomsky can be very stubborn when they are fully grown, Avoiding them training at early stages can make them miss behave, aggressive and complicated.

Keep in mind in the training session, you must provide them with the house proofing training as it is very necessary, also teach your dog where it could find its toilet, bowl of water and food, and its bed.

You must train your dog daily but keep in mind they tend to be very smart and stubborn. So, they can easily manipulate you by its cuteness to get away with it. If you want to prevent this unwanted attitude, do the training session every day

As a Pomsky is a hybrid of Pomeranian and Husky, it would be best if you provide them with some extra space where they can hide play and run, as it will make them very happy and still healthy.

Plus it would also be better if you take them for a ride to a beach a doggy park on weekends as it will get them a chance to interact more with another person

Every pet owner wants to keep their dog’s attention span higher during the training session if you want it too, it would be highly recommended to break the training session into shorter daily sessions.

In this way, you can keep their attention span time higher and train them every day.

Request: Please ever don’t tie your little dog outside as it is never fair to him/her. I have seen many people doing this, I don’t know why they leave their little buddy tied outside but I think it’s inhuman/cruel thing to do.

Siberian Husky Pomeranian Mix Health

Most people will say that hybrid is healthier than your purebred because of their larger gene pool but it’s not true. Every particular hybrid can develop or inherit some genetic health issues from their parents.

If both the parents are prone to specific health problems, there is a still high chance of puppies to inherit them too

Each of them can develop some serious health concerns. Talking about mutt/hybrid/designer dog – Pomsky’s health condition. You may expect to see some genetic health concerns that they can inherit from its parent Siberian Husky and Pomeranian mix.

Plus, they will definitely open up with you about the health concerns that your Pomsky can develop in time. In the meantime, you also need to make sure that they offer health guarantee or insurance on designer Puppies like Pomsky.

If you get caught with a breeder who doesn’t offer Health guarantee or insurance on designer puppies. It would be best to avoid them. Most of the time, they tend to lie about their puppy health issues and most of it, you will end up losing your precious time and money.

Plus, it would be best if you avoid adopting a puppy from a puppy mill as they don’t care about their puppies health and just want to do business with you and make quick money.

From my experience, I have found that they always seem to lie about their hybrid dogs. They don’t worth your trust and money.

And if you are adopting a puppy from a puppy mill / I would recommend you to make sure that your Pomsky has been cleared particular condition with all health clearance needed. Puppy Mills without a license would never be able to provide that as they never do a health check-up on their puppies.

Siberian Husky Pomeranian Mix Grooming needs

Every Pomsky can inherit its own behavioral as well as physical traits from their parents – Siberian HuPomsky and Pomeranian. Often it has been seen that Pomsky inherits most of its behavioral traits from the Pomeranian side rather than the Siberian HuPomsky side.

However, it doesn’t mean that it will be the same as every Pomsky puppy.

Combing

If your Pomsky inherits most of its physical traits from a pomeranian side like their coat, then you will need to comb them daily. If you just want to keep their coat from getting Tangled or method you can either use a pin brush or a slicker brush to brush their coat.

On the other hand, if Pomsky inherits the Siberian Husky coat, then still you will also need to comb their coat and brush out the loose fur. It would be best if you just brush their coat down to the skin so that you can get most of the loose fur onto the comb, they are moderate shedder.

You can either use a pin brush or a slicker brush – if you don’t have one, then I will highly suggest you, invest in a slicker or a pin brush. If you want, check out the recent purchase that I made from the Amazon.

Most of the time, a hybrid diet routine differs from dog to dog. So it would be best if we say that every Pomsky is going to need its own proper diet routine on each dog basis.

We shouldn’t forget that a Pomsky is a designer dog/hybrid and each of them is going to be different from one another by which it means that they will definitely require different dietary routines.

In most cases, I have seen many people getting confused about what to feed my dog but here is the thing that you need to know- there is a difference between hybrid dietary routine and normal pure breed dog dietary routine.

Rule of thumb says that raw diet is always a good diet but here is what you also need to know about their Pomsky dietary requirements when you get a hybrid like Pomsky it would be better and safe if you just go for Holistic dog food.

You will also want to make sure that the food that you are going to get and feed your dog contains only high-quality ingredients. Also, check ingredients used in the food are of high quality.

Primary ingredients should be lamb, Salmon, Turkey, chicken meat, and beef. These ingredients will fulfill your little buddy protein and caloric needs and will ensure their healthiness.

If you are looking for commercial food, you should always check the ingredients used in preparing the food. Make sure that it only contains high-quality ingredients as Pomsky can also be vulnerable to allergies and Dental problems if it inherits most of its traits from the parent – Pomeranian

If you want to be on the safe side it would be best if you just feed them with the high-quality dog food prepared with high-quality ingredients.

High quality and good food will make sure that your dog will have a long life span and good health. The ideal dog food for your dog would be the food that has enough protein, vitamins, and minerals to fulfill their essential needs.

Apart from commercial foods, you can also feed them with fresh vegetables and fruits. Remember that the vegetable and fruits are only acceptable if you just feed them occasionally you can also go for a cup of dry food every day.

Don’t feed your dog too much because overfeeding can also cause unwanted weight gain that can increase the chances of health problems. According to the recent survey, most of the dogs of the United States are overweighted. Overfeeding is never a good idea as it will only do badly for your dog than good.

If you want you can also include some healthy supplements like glucosamine and fish oils. It is only recommended if you consult with doctors before feeding them. These supplements can eliminate any potential elbow and hip dysplasia.

Most of the time peoples just want to ignore the use of supplements but I would highly suggest you go for the supplements and take the power of supplements seriously as it will help your dog to be healthy and live life long.

Siberian Husky Pomeranian Mix ( Pomsky )
Siberian Husky Pomeranian Mix ( Pomsky )

I have already mentioned in this article that Pomsky is a very high energy dog, so it will also be recommended if you just keep them busy most of the time and exercise them daily.

You will also want to provide them with extra space so that they can run hide and play all day long, this way your Pomsky would never feel bored and will be always happy and healthy.

Furthermore, it also requires some extra attention and care as Pomsky doesn’t like to be feel ignored or to be left alone on their own. most of the time it has been seen that a Siberian Husky Pomeranian Mix doesn’t do well with their left alone on their own for more than 12 hours at that meantime they can get stressful.

So what a Siberian Husky Pomeranian Mix need, is your time and some attention, if you leave them on their own all day long and once they start to feel bored, they will never hesitate to start chewing your belongings.

They only do this to get your attention and to remind you that they need some interaction with you and your family members

Leaving them on their own for too long can make them very aggressive towards you and the family member. If you feel that you need to leave them alone for more than 12 hours and that is nobody available to take care of your buddy it would be best if you just take them with you if it’s possible.

Don’t exceed 12 hours barrier as it will only put them in severe stress. You also need to remember if you want a dog to be healthy you will want to keep a dog – happy. “A happy dog is a healthy dog”

Moving forward, they also look for interactions, they are very outgoing and playful dogs. They love to play and interact with their owner and their family members, they also tend to be very affectionate.

Adding to that, their thick layered coat also needs some extra grooming and combing done daily. Combing their coat is mandatory if you want to keep your carpet clean as they shed pretty harshly sometimes.

Pomsky also needs some exercises as they tend to be very energetic with small statures. It would be ideal if you just train them or exercise them or walk them daily to keep their energy level low.

In this way, you can also keep them from being destructive at home in your presence/absence when you are busy. 40 minutes of exercise or training or work will be perfect for their cute little paws.

Last but not least, every hybrid needs some extra health care as every one of them comes with some genetic health problems.
